Who is Jasper

Jasper McDonald-Fleming is a husband, father, son, and a true believer in fighting for what is right. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Elizabeth City State University and a Master’s in Human Development & Family Studies from North Carolina Central University. He is the husband to Leondis and the father to their loving and beautiful daughter who attends Durham Public School. Currently, Jasper works as a Financial Analyst at UNC REX Healthcare and has over 10+ years of professional financial experience. Jasper is also, a member of the Delta Zeta Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc of Durham.
Jasper has always had a passion to service to his community and a willingness to help others. It was during Jasper’s senior year of high school that he knew he wanted to make a change. Jasper worked alongside other students to make changes for a better tomorrow for their hometown of Roanoke Rapids, NC. He continued his advocacy work at Elizabeth City State University by working with other community organizations to give back the community and fight for many cause such as social justice and voting rights.
When elected to Durham Schools Board, Jasper will work very close with the Superintendent, The County Commissioners and the Durham Community to ensure that we build a better school system to equip our students with the necessary tools to succeed in today’s world. In addition, he will fight to make sure that DPS has equitable pay for ALL to guarantee that DPS is marketable and retains the talented, dedicated, and committed educational professionals of Durham Public Schools. Lastly, he will build transparency with the community and stakeholders.
